Esteemed colleagues,

It is an honor to write the editorial of the first issue in which I am listed as Editor in Chief of our “Lo Scalpello Journal”.

The O.T.O.D.I. board and its President have granted me the privilege to carry on the work started in the last few years to bring this Journal to the international stage and to be indexed on the most prominent biomedical research websites.

The entire Board, especially my predecessor Dr. Alberto Momoli, paved the way for the near future.

First and foremost, our goals will be to increase the Journal’s international appeal and collaboration with foreign authors and reviewers. The new Board strives to express the Italian Orthopedic tradition and its quality, which are demonstrated daily in our hospitals and Universities. We desire that each institution will be able to contribute to a challenging yet engaging profession.

The pandemic has given us a great take-home message: scientific research cannot be stopped. But, most definitely, it has unified the scientific community by making our work easier and connecting fellow professionals worldwide, supported by prompt disclosure of results.

The editorial platform has been tested successfully, and the website and all the necessary links are practical and user-friendly: our experience will soon make our Journal appealing to international authors.

Secondly, “Lo Scalpello Journal” aims to become a journal in which International and Italian Ortho and Trauma surgeons can share work experiences and their research to mold the new generations, but also to consolidate knowledge of professionals caring for patients.

Finally, I would like to thank the O.T.O.D.I. President, Dr. Vincenzo Caiaffa, all the board members, the tireless General Secretary Laura Roberto, and all the colleagues who will contribute to our Journal’s growth and affirmation.
